Meet The Founder

Aleesha, 16

Hi! I'm the founder of The Awaaz Project, Aleesha. I am 16 years old from Karachi, Pakistan but based in Dubai at Dubai College. I became well versed in the humanities from a young age with interests in reading, writing and debate. As I expanded my academic journey towards Latin, History, Politics, Ancient Greek and Economics, I began to realise how pivotal of a role these subjects played in forming my identity and passions. Wanting others to experience the same journey fostered from a young age, I became increasingly frustrated with the lack of attention towards the humanities in my home country of Pakistan. This frustration is what led me to setting up The Awaaz Project. My goal with this foundation is to ensure that no child ever feels like they are not privileged enough to access these core skills and that critical thinking can be accessible regardless of race, class or gender. I hope to expand this movement to ensure children across the region can walk down the same path that led me to where I am today.
